Delegation Trip for United Nations (UN) Procurement Officers and Technical Staff to Germany: Smart Technologies for Environment and for Sustainable Cities

On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Action (BMWK) the German-Italian Chamber of Commerce (AHK Italien) organized from 31st May to 3rd June 2022 a Delegation Trip for UN Procurement Officers and German supplier companies with focus on environmental and smart city technologies in the context of the IFAT trade fair in Munich.
On the German side, the main target group consisted mainly of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that can offer innovative solutions or services in the field of environmental and smart city technologies. A total of 33 German companies applied for the individual meetings with the UN buyers.
The United Nations delegation consisted of nine buyers from six UN agencies, in particular: Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Food Programme (WFP), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), UN Department of Operation Support and United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
The program included two conferences, a round table discussion, two guided tours of the trade fair, a visit to the Green Tech Campus of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in Garching and B2B meetings between the UN Procurement Officers (and the Technical Staff of the respective UN organization) and the German supplier companies. A total of 73 individual meetings were held.
